Authentic Walking Tour in the Slums of Kibera, Kenya

Collins Orido Wassonga
Are you interested in the reallife situation in a slum? Then I am pleased and proud to take you on a walking tour in my hometown Kibera. I was born and raised here and know the place very well. The tours I organise are always with a small group. I will show you the challenges we face but also the positive sides of living together in Chocolate CIty, the inspiring entrepreneurship of many of our community and the progress we have made together.

What we'll do

We will pick you up at your accomodation in or nearby Nairobi. From there we use public transport to travel together to Kibera Town Center. From here our walking tour will start. Every tour is unique and if you have specific places you wish to visit, please let us know. Below you find a summary of some of the places we might be showing you.
During the walking tour you will be able to see the houses people live in, get to know more about our culture and live style in the slum. Besides we will show you how kids go to school, how we grow our own food and how we cook. We will take you to one of the local markets and bring you to the historical railway that runs through Kibera. One of the other places we will be taking you is the community centre were we offer different activities for youths to help them in developing skills for the future.

Slumtour Kibera - Also online available! I am an enthusiastic guide with many years of experience. Besides, I am coordinator and the founder of the foundation Agape Hope for Kibera. We are currently working on multiple projects. Helping orphans and vulnerable children is the most important focal point for the organisation. By offering meals at school, medical care and purchasing school supplies, these children get a fighting chance to make something of their lives. We also organise interactive online video slum tours via https://slumtourkibera.com/en/. Not only for schools, but also for other groups!
