What we'll do

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

After your pick up from the Nairobi airport or your hotel, we will transfer to the Mount Kenya national park. Upon arrival, we will take a 3-4 hour hike to the Naro Moru river lodge (3,040m). We will spend the night in tents.

Day 2: Mackiners camp (4,300m)

Today we will hike for approximately 5 to 7 hours, with an altitude gain of approximately 1,300 meters, to the Mackiners camp, where we will spend the night in tents.

Day 3: Austrian hut (4,790m)

Today we will hike for approximately 2 to 3 hours, with an altitude gain of approximately 490 meters, to the Austrian hut, where we will spend the night in tents.

Day 4: Nelion Tower (5,188m)

We will make our way to the summit of the Nelion tower today. We will take the South East Face standard route. The climb will take anywhere from 10 to 16 hours. At the summit, we will spend the night in the Howell’s bivvy hut.

Day 5: Batian (5,199m)

Today we will climb through the Gates of Mist to the summit of Batian. The ascent should take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Afterwards, we will go to the Austrian hut where we will spend the night.

Day 6: Moses camp (3,300m)

Today we will trek along the Sirimon route via the gorges valley to the Judimier/old Moses camp where we will spend the night.

Day 7: Sirimon gate (2,600m)

On the final day of this trip we will eat breakfast and descend to the Sirimon gate and leave the Mount Kenya national park. Afterwards, we will drive back to Nairobi.

  • Climbing crew: - Professional guides, licensed by Kilimanjaro National Park. All our guides are the holder of Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid certifications. - Dedicated support crew (assistant guides, camp master, porters, cooks, etc.).
  • Entry fees: - permits, crew fees, camping/hut fees, rescue fees and Value Added Tax (VAT) and all other fees collected by National Parks Authority.
  • Meals: - All meals on the hike. Prepared by our professional cooks. (vegetarian/gluten-free/halal options are available at no extra cost ) - Celebration dinner after climb - All drinks on the hike (coffee, tea, juice, hot chocolate and water).
  • Accommodation: - 2 Nights at a 3 - star hotel with breakfast included ( before and after the climb ). Please note: All accommodation is on sharing basis (i.e. you will be sharing with your travel companion a twin/double room in the hotel and a tent during the hike. If you travel alone, we will match you with a same-sex adventurer), however a if you prefer a single hotel room or single tent that can be provided at an extra cost. We also offer other amenities for an extra cost such as a heater for your personal tents.

The booking fee ($45.00 p.p. included in the displayed price) is non-refundable if you cancel your booking. If a local cancels a booking or does not show up at the agreed time and place, you receive a full refund of the booking fee.
