Good to know

The crater lakes in Fort Portal were formed about 8000-10000 years ago, as the result of vulcanic activity. The area around them supports a complex ecosystem, with over 300 bird species. One of the most popular lakes is Nyinambuga, which is the image found on Uganda's 20,000 currency note. Along the route are several villages where people live, farm and go to school.

Meet the Local

Avatar

Hi! My name is Noah, and it is my pleasure to meet you. Being a tour guide has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I received a Degree in Tourism and Hotel Management at the University, and since then I have been a professional tour guide for over nine years. I founded Uganda Crater Lakes Tours four years ago, a tour agency specializing in eco-tourism in the Fort Portal region. Uganda Crater Lakes Tours has grown and today we are in a fortunate position to be able to contribute to the villages through a community program, where we sponsor part of the school fees and items for children to attend school. I grew up in Lyantonde village in the Rwaihamba Parish Ruteete sub-county, which is in the Kabarole District in Fort Portal. I am fluent in English, and speak over ten local Ugandan languages. I am also passionate about helping the community and youths in the region. In my spare time, I serve in several offices concerning youths and hold positions in the District Youth Council. My purpose is to teach youths about eco-tourism and entrepreneurship, and to empower them with a brighter and sustainable future. I am thirty two years old this year, and together with my wife Unity, we are the proud parents of two beautiful children, a boy and a girl aged three and seven years old. Come visit the natural beauty and warm people that makes Uganda a fascinating destination. I look forward to welcoming you and being your trusted guide in the Fort Portal region!
